Neitherworld's Merfolks Triptych

Beetlejuice, Lydia, and Prince Vince as Merfolks (as part of my "belated" Mermay drawings). ^w^

But this time in Triptych - As you can see in this, there are three objects that each character are holding: Crystal Ball, Beetle, and Poem. There you go.

Okay, on with the Merfolk designs:


* Lydia Deetz:

Did the best I could to draw her as a typical Gothic mermaid. For the top, it was similar for her bathing suit from few episodes from the show. However, to base on her clothing from the show, I gave her a high-top red tank and long sleeveless black gloves.

The floated object she was carrying is actually a crystal ball (just like she uses a lamp to summon Beetlejuice). Though, the funny thing was that I thought it was a crystal ball in the show. BUT, my memory was being incorrectly. It turns out it was actually a glass lamp/lantern in her room after all. Silly me.

*Beetlejuice:

We all know that Beetlejuice always hate water (especially taking a bath) from the cartoon show. Even since my pal, mentioned that. However, while I was planning to do next Burton’s characters as merfolks in a year, I made an idea to see how will BJ be as a Merman - set in a swamp. Think about it - Swamps have muddy shores and murky underwater, compared to bogs and marshes.

So there you go - Merman BJ in Neitherworld’s swamp. In others words, “Swamp Merman.” You’re welcome. (in other words, BJ would be please).

I wanted to give Merman- BJ a shirt instead of being “shirtless” (It’s NOT that he would be gross. It’s only to make sense because of his stripes as a conncetion, based on his suit from the show). The shirt was actually referenced from the 19th/20th century bathing suit for men, which it had stripes on it (but with a collar that was similar to the ones from BJ’s suit).

Heck, for this pose, looked it up on Homer Simpson's, when he and his family were having a jacuzzi, because of the pose (and pot-belly) as references.

Also, the swamp background was referenced from two episodes from the show (”Caddy Shock,” and “Quit While You’re A Head” ), the backgrounds from “The Princess and the Frog,” others from Google image.


*Prince Vince:

Hey, if Lyds and BJ can be merfolks, so can Princerino.

Step aside, Ariel - Princerino Sunshine here is being a “Little Merfolk” here since the original fairy tale of Little Mermaid. XDD

For drawing him as a merman, I wanted to make sure he wears something royalty (based on his clothing from TV show), just like you’ve seen from Mermaid Scene Maker from AzaleaDolls (or the ones in Disney’s Little Mermaid universe).
