A Victorian Christmas Tree

Description

Victor+Victoria, with baby Emily (probably few months old), lighting their little Christmas tree.

Before you guys are going to say to me, "But Christmas season is already over!," here's a thing; YES, it is over. However, I wanted to draw a sketch, based on the old one I did last year. So I want to draw this... and I promised you this would be the last holiday pic this month. So... here it is.

Anyway, this little Christmas tree was based off Victorian version of it, after I looked it up from Google. Even back in Victorian era, most trees have candle sticks as decoration, compared to candle crowns from the festive day of Saint Lucia in Scandinavia. Some of the Victorian trees were lanky, but I wanted to draw a miniature version of Christmas tree while respecting Victorian version of Christmas.

To be honest, I was sad that my family and I put our (fake) Christmas tree back in the basement on Saturday. It was a great with my family's fake tree, but temporarily. So, after the day we put most Christmas stuff back in the basement, I posted this on site. 'Cause it express my feeling that I'll miss the tree. I'll see it next year's holiday.

*Interesting Fun Fact: In Catholic and Orthodox belief, there are 12 days of Christmas because of celebration the Nativity (which I always celebrated in my belief). So, on a twelfth day, there was a festive holiday of Epiphany, "Twelfth Night," (which it was named before my fave Shakespeare's play), in England. ;)

Enjoy.

Oh yay.  I was wondering when I would see more of Little Emily, and Victor and Victoria look delighted to be spending their first (?) Christmas together.  And yes, I do recall reading about Victorian and Edwardian Christmas celebrations, borrowed or based on German and Western European traditions, during Decembers past.  Candles on the boughs of the Christmas tree, where electric lights sit now, was one of them.
