Humanize 7

For designing 7 as a human, I think of her as blonde with pale/ivory skin. I know some of you guys weren’t being aware to see human 7 as blonde. But for me, I think seeing her with blonde hair suits her in this human version. Besides, platinum-blonde (that looks like white hair) works for her, based off the stitch punk design. 

For designing hair, some of hair style in my old sketches were based off from Margo's from “The Greatest Adventure Stories from Bible” (for the short hair) and Nita’s from “Brother Bear 2” (for the braided hair). Originally she was going to have long braided hair on the back. However, I decided to give her a long straight pony-tail instead, because it's similar to the feathers from the back of 7's bird-skull helmet from the film. 

For the pony-tail that I designed was inspired by Yaten’s (Sailor Star Healer) from my fave anime, “Sailor Moon.” vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/s… images4.fanpop.com/image/photo… As for the flip hair, it was based off from Sargent Calhoun’s from Disney’s “Wreck-it-Ralph.” 41.media.tumblr.com/9773faa183… And you know what? That was my first idea since last year. 8D Finally, it works for 7 perfectly. After all, both Calhoun and 7 are tough soldier/warrior gals with rough attitudes.  (Then again, the flip hair that I sketched almost remind of Leah's from "Osmosis Jones" XD ).

Also, for both blonde and pale skin as color scheme for human-7, I wanted to make it similar to Lady Amalthea’s from “The Last Unicorn” www.thehunchblog.com/wp-conten… . I gave her green color on her eyes, because I thought matching from her green button would work. 

Now, don’t give me wrong, this is just an honest opinion and constructive feedback (hopefully Chloe doesn’t mind ) . Chloe’s human designs of 9 are nice, but there will be other people who like which human designs by fans 

Feedback; To design a human version of 9, what’s matter is to close to a canon character’s personality in the film. For 7, she is a warrior with her tomboyish behavior, but a motherly young lady. 

Back in Art History class of Bibles and Myths last year, we learned about how female characters from Greek/Roman myths portrayed as the “femme fatale,” which means “Dangerous Female” in French. There are great examples of the Greek characters, either heroine or enemies, who are femme fatales: Circe, Medusa the Gorgon, Penthesilea the Amazon queen, Medea, etc… I know femme fatale means female characters seducing men in the storyline. However, some femme fatales can be heroines like Jessica Rabbit, Megara (from "Hercules" ), and Goldie (from "Rock-a-Doodle"). 

So, to design a bad*ss female human, even a warrior heroine like Astrid from HTTYD 1-2 or San from “Princess Mononoke," you have to make her look like a femme fatale character. Especially the clothing. That’s why I wanted to make 7 more like a “femme fatale” character in my human design, since she is a dangerous “female” stitchpunk in the film. 

(I’m just saying, even though I studied character designs since last year. This is just a constructive opinion). 

For references, I looked up on female costumes that are based off from ancient/historical civilization; Native-Americans, other non-Western cultures, and others, such as Viking/Barbaric gals. I even look up on Kida's from Disney’s “Atlantis,” because of the similarities to 7.  s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/2…

But I didn’t want her clothing to be “too revealing,” while designing her outfit. For the top, it was based off from part of a Chinese dress, Cheongsam/Qipao. Instead of drawing a dress, I drew a mini-skirt with the rope belt (which it’s based off from the movie) and the leggings/tights because I thought it would be cool to see a warrior wearing a mini-skirt and leggings with boots. What can I say? I enjoy this fashion trends today.  

Speaking of boots, her boots was based on a tall Indian boots , but with a fur on top. Trying to make a  pair of boots with a mixture of Moccasin and Inuit. I even added arm bracelet and the fang earrings (which it's based off part of 7's skull helmet) based on the film. 

I have to be honest, it was really difficult to design 7’s weapons, based on those from the film. 

For the helmet, I looked up on the bird masks from ancient non-Western culture, such as African and Native American, because her helmet has a beak. Though, ever since I was doing figure drawings on online, such as pixelovely, I saw a photo of a female figure with a beak mask by Marcus J. Ranum. Also, before that, there are leather beak mask that are know as the Plague Doctor mask. static1.squarespace.com/static…

Though, after I looked up on ancient armor helmets, such as Greeks and Medieval, I used the Close Helmet as references. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… So, after many recent sketches I did, I combined 7’s helmet with both the Beak and the Medieval’s helmet, with Falcon feathers based on Native American hair style. 

Alright, now for the weapon;

Just to remind you all, I did look up on spears, especially (again) African and Native American. However, I want the humanize-7’s weapon to stick with the film’s. So, I did try to look up bladed spears in Google… until finally, I saw the one that is almost like 7’s spear. There’s also the glaive polearm, which it was exactly like 7’s! 8D
