And David, character from the Bible, is super happy... 'cause both humanized Beast (Prince Adam) and 9 were inspired from him. =D

Oh the Feels! I'm getting excited because of this super-awesome-crossover I made!
:chairdance:

*Clear throat* Okay, I'm calming myself right now. Let's get this over with.

Okay, the reason I drew this was because both humanization of Adam and 9 were inspired by David, the hero from the Bible. ;) Just to be honest, "David and Goliath" was one of my favorite Bible stories since I was a kid. Although, what got into me was this old cartoon, which it was from "Beginners' Bible." www.youtube.com/watch?v=TizyKB…;

However, right now I'm watching few adaptations that interested me, which I highly recommend to watch.

- The Hanna-Barbara version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLgwvY…  (Yes, folks. BatB's Robby Benson did the voice of David! I kid you not! 80 )
- The Tezuka version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=be0E0z…
- The film that starred the great Orson Welles:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMWb0E…

Luckily, since the Renaissance, the "David" story inspired many great artists to do their own interpretation: Michelangelo, Castagno, Verrochio, Donatello, etc... David and Goliath wasn't just the Bible story; it shows how a hero represent as an archetype to against cowardice and evil, since the Greek myths. Also, it even inspired Disney and other studios because of the "David and Goliath" theme. Even to Mickey Mouse cartoons, such as Mickey against the Giant in "The Brave Little Tailor."

Okay, now for the characters from left and right:

*Beast/Adam

We all know that Glen Keane used both arts from Rodin and Michelangelo to do the Transformation scene from Beauty and the Beast. Surprisingly, Prince Adam's human design was mostly inspired by Michelangelo's works because of the famous sculpture, the David. images.fineartamerica.com/imag…

Now I could see David and Adam/Beast were close because of the famous quote, "He who conquers himself." While Adam/Beast represents as David in both of films (first and second), I could see what the villains represents:

- Gaston as both Goliath and King Saul
- Forte (from "Enchanted Christmas") as Saul's Devil/Deciever and Goliath (Yes, folks. In the ending of midquel, Beast used the whole keyboard (special thanks to Fife) to hit Forte, whom he fell down as his death)
- Even both the village mob and the wolves represents as the Philistines

Before you guys are going to say "but David sculpture look so weeird! No wander Adam's looks ugly," I've got something to say to you all: Shut. UP.

Seriously, I found "preferring Beast over human" because of the looks are pretty weird. No offense, but fanbase are very strange, while dissing the film's moral. -_-

For your information, Art History is part of the requirement for Animation. Why? Because of the early age of animation from the late 1800's, AND the references for the scene. Yes, folks, if you want to get into Animation or Sequential Art/Comic, then you have to know Art History.

Michelangelo and the other great Renaissance artists had been part of the resources for ART. Sure, Michelangelo painted women weird because of "muscular style," but come on! His style inspired me because of both dynamism, and the male sculptures, while he's a proud Christian. For the nudity in his Bible Art, he wanted to bring the influences from the Genesis since Adam and Eve story. After all, he loves to combine the art style from both Bible and Greek Myths in his works. So yeah, Adam's human form really does have Michelangelo vibe, along with Rodin's. After all, Adam/Beast is one bad*ss Disney Prince, before inspired  Aladdin, Naveen, and Flynn/Eugene for the character influences. Heck, I found him way more cuter than that blandish Disney sugar-coated John Smith and Gaston (suck on that, prissy-Smith. You too, Gaston! *sticking tongue at them* ).

(Seriously, some BatB fans are just weird in these days)

*Humanized-9

I have to admit, the Tezuka version of David really inspired me because of the character design. After all, I did mention earlier from last year. madame-kikue.deviantart.com/ar…

9's character from the movie are similar from both Adam and David from the Bible. Just like David, 9 is very determined, while hiding from your fear isn't going to work. So yes, since 9 represent as David... you can see the B.R.A.I.N. represent as Goliath, while 1 represent as King Saul. :XD:

When it comes with designing human version of 9, I wanted to draw him based on his human personality. Not some Justin-Beaver clone for a pretty boy type. That's important for character designing; based on one character's personality. ;)

*Fun Fact: Remember that I mentioned that Donatello's "David" looks like 9's actor, Elijah Wood? Well, guess what? Frodo from LotR do look like Michelangelo's "David" because of the similar features... especially the hair. 8BBBBB

Surprising?

Anyway, I did saw the trailer of the recent David and Goliath story. But just to be honest, I find it so-so. I like to see a better film in the future to see how David will be better as a king than Saul, and using visual effect of Goliath as an "actual" giant. And yes, I would like to see it (in either live-action or CGI) to kick "Noah" film's ass ("Noah" movie was okay, but I felt like it was dissing Christian theme from the Bible's awesome story, while the main characters lost me). And yes, I would like to see another future film of St. Michael as a main character to kick Lucifer's ass.

David's design was based off both Michelangelo's and Giuseppe Cesari's for the feature, while the colors were referenced from Tezuka's. I know the Bible said "ruddy and handsome," but I always think of him as strawberry-blond hair. "shrug:

Also, the pose was inspired by a Frozen pic... but it was sadly deleted. =( Oh well.

Enjoy.
